Ripple National Trust Bank
Plain definition. Ripple National Trust Bank (RNTB) is a federally supervised trust bank that Ripple received conditional approval to establish from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.
Technical definition. In a press release dated December 12, 2025, Ripple said that the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) had announced conditional approval of Ripple’s application to establish Ripple National Trust Bank (RNTB), a federally supervised trust bank. Ripple said that with a national trust bank managing RLUSD reserves, its stablecoin business would be overseen as a trust company at two levels: by the New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) at the state level and by the OCC at the federal level. RNTB’s services are also meant to carry the same regulatory rigor into Ripple’s broader payments and institutional services, with final approvals from the OCC still to come.
