XRP Compared: Competitors and Alternatives

XRP competes less with other coins than with dollar stablecoins such as Circle’s USDC, bank tokenized deposits and Swift’s own networks. Stellar is the closest crypto match. No source shows XRP replacing Swift. CoinDesk reported that Swift’s blockchain ledger launched in July with 17 banks. CoinDesk reported its second live payment, between DBS and Citi on 5 September 2026, used tokenized deposits, and CaptainAltcoin reported that it used no XRP. Circle says its CPN Managed Payments, announced on April 8, 2026, settle in USDC.

The comparison pages show that speed does not set XRP apart. XRPL.org says ledgers usually close about every 3 to 5 seconds, and Hedera states the same finality. On September 29, 2026, DefiLlama showed $146 billion of stablecoins on Ethereum and $16 billion on Solana. In this site’s analysis, XRP’s difference is a combination: the XRP Ledger’s built-in exchange and Ripple’s wider businesses.

Several points stay open. No savings study was found as of September 29, 2026. The latest Ripple figure found for payments using XRP covers 2022. Current sources cannot settle whether XRP is being institutionalized faster than Bitcoin was.
