Trust line
Plain definition. On the XRP Ledger, a trust line lets two accounts trade a defined currency up to a set limit, and a receiving account needs one before it can trade standard tokens.
Technical definition. A receiving account must establish a trust line to the issuing account before it can trade standard tokens, and the line lets the two accounts trade a defined currency up to a set limit. The holder creates it with a TrustSet transaction that passes the currency code, the issuer account and the total value the holder is willing to accept. Sending the issued currency then changes balances on both sides of the trust line, with the issuer’s balance shown as an obligation and the holder’s as an asset.
