Crypto ATM
Plain definition. A crypto ATM is a machine that lets people buy cryptoassets or convert their money into them, as the UK Financial Conduct Authority describes it.
Technical definition. The UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) defines crypto ATMs as machines that “allow people to buy or convert money into cryptoassets.” In the UK, crypto ATM operators count as cryptoasset exchange providers. They must therefore be registered with the FCA and comply with the UK Money Laundering Regulations, and the FCA states that crypto ATMs operating without that registration are illegal.
