Fully diluted valuation
Plain definition. Fully diluted valuation is what a cryptocurrency’s total worth, or market cap, would be if its entire supply of tokens were in circulation, CoinMarketCap says.
Technical definition. CoinMarketCap’s glossary calculates fully diluted value by taking a coin’s total supply and multiplying it by the price per coin. The result shows what would happen if all coins held back for later release entered circulation at once at the current market price. In its worked example, 10,000 circulating ABC tokens at $1 each give a market cap of $10,000, while a maximum supply of 1 million tokens gives an FDV of $1 million.
