What are XRP’s price and market cap right now?
On September 29, 2026, CoinGecko showed XRP at $1.49, with a market capitalization of $93,682,448,248 and a rank of #5 [1]. CoinMarketCap showed the same $1.49 price, a market cap of $93.9 billion and a 24-hour range of $1.47 to $1.56 that day [2]. DefiLlama’s XRPL page, saved in September 2026, showed $1.49 and a market cap of $93.942 billion [3].
The days before were higher. 24/7 Wall St. reported XRP at about $1.54 on September 26, 2026 [4]. CoinGecko reported a 5.40% fall over the seven days to September 29, against a 3.00% fall for the global crypto market [1].
Trading volume differed by provider. On September 29, CoinGecko gave $3.97 billion of 24-hour volume in one part of its page and $3.73 billion in another [1], while CoinMarketCap gave $4.7 billion [2]. How much of that volume is genuine is covered in where XRP trades and how much reported volume is real.
For what XRP is and how it came about, start with What is XRP? and the history of XRP.
CoinGecko’s XRP page, saved at 18:22 UTC on September 29, 2026, showed XRP at $1.49, a market capitalization of $93,682,448,248, and a rank of fifth on its list [1].
What is XRP’s fully diluted valuation, and why is it larger?
CoinGecko put XRP’s fully diluted valuation at $148,966,532,859 on September 29, 2026, and defines it as the market cap if the maximum 100 billion XRP were all in circulation; it adds that it may take years before that is reached [1]. CoinMarketCap gave $149.33 billion [2] and DefiLlama $148.873 billion [3].
The difference comes from supply. CoinMarketCap counted 62.87 billion XRP circulating, 99.98 billion in total and a 100 billion maximum on September 29 [2]. Bitcoin.com News reported on September 28 that Ripple’s on-chain escrow held 31.98 billion XRP, about 32% of supply, with another 4.74 billion in operational wallets, and that an escrow window opens October 1 with up to 1 billion XRP [5]. Why the supply is 100 billion and how release works are covered in how many XRP exist and whether Ripple can create more and how the XRP escrow works.
Why do data providers report different circulating supply and market cap figures?
CoinGecko measures market cap as price multiplied by circulating supply and rounds that supply to 63 billion XRP [1]. CoinMarketCap shows 62.87 billion [2]. The three providers’ market caps on or near September 29 ranged from $93.68 billion to $93.942 billion, and their fully diluted values from $148.873 billion to $149.33 billion [1][2][3].
62.87 billion multiplied by $1.49 gives about $93.7 billion, so the spread is consistent with rounding of supply and price and with different snapshot times. None of the three pages states its exact supply method, and none explains why CoinGecko and CoinMarketCap list different all-time highs.
What was XRP’s all-time high, and how far below it is XRP?
CoinMarketCap lists an all-time high of $3.84 on January 4, 2018, and an all-time low of $0.002802 on July 7, 2014; on September 29, 2026, it put XRP 61.14% below the high [2]. CoinGecko lists an all-time high of $3.65 and an all-time low of $0.002686, and put XRP 59.10% below its peak that day [1].
No source checked gives XRP’s price in late 2016, so the return from buying ten years ago cannot be stated here.
How deep were XRP’s past drawdowns, and how long did recoveries take?
The longest-running gap in the sources is the one from the high. CoinMarketCap still listed January 4, 2018, as the all-time high on September 29, 2026, so on its data XRP had not traded above $3.84 in the more than eight years since [2]. The sources do not give the depth of later lows or recovery times for earlier cycles.
Within 2026 the record is partial. CoinDesk reported XRP at $1.37 on March 13, 2026, down 26% year to date, with an $84 billion market cap [7]. A Yahoo Finance article on XRP ETF flows, which showed spot ETF flows as of August 28, 2026, reported that XRP’s price pulled back from $1.70 resistance that week, citing X/@CryptoPatel [6]. According to 24/7 Wall St., XRP opened at $1.41 on September 21 and closed at $1.54, then fell nearly 6% between September 22 and 23 [4]. [4]. [4]. How these moves compare with bitcoin and the wider market is covered in how volatile XRP is and how closely it moves with bitcoin.
What is the strongest critique of reading XRP’s market cap as a measure of use?
CoinDesk argued on March 13, 2026, that XRP’s DeFi layer is a rounding error relative to its valuation, and that the market cap is driven by speculative positioning and ETF expectations rather than capital locked into on-chain activity [7]. The same article said every metric that should matter for a utility token was up while the price was down [7]. A market cap is a price multiplied by a supply count; it does not by itself show how much XRP is being used. Whether the price already reflects expected adoption is examined in whether future adoption is already priced into XRP, and the gap between activity and price in why XRP’s price isn’t rising with adoption. What a given price would require is set out in what a given XRP price would require.
CoinDesk argued on March 13, 2026 that XRP Ledger activity is increasingly driven by RLUSD, Ripple’s stablecoin, and by tokenized assets that pass through XRP as a bridge currency without creating sustained demand for the token [7].
The case that price has lagged adoption is examined in why XRP’s price isn’t rising, and ETF effects in did the spot ETFs push XRP’s price up.

What we reason Analysis
- CoinMarketCap’s 62.87 billion circulating XRP multiplied by $1.49 gives about $93.7 billion, which matches CoinGecko’s reported market cap within rounding. This follows from [1] and [2].
- the fully diluted value was about 1.59 times the market cap on September 29, 2026 ($148.97 billion against $93.68 billion on CoinGecko). This follows from [1].
- the gap between CoinMarketCap’s total supply (99.98 billion) and circulating supply (62.87 billion) is about 37.1 billion XRP; the 31.98 billion in escrow reported by Bitcoin.com News accounts for most of it. This follows from [2] and [5]; the sources use different dates and methods.
- because CoinMarketCap still listed January 4, 2018, as the all-time high on September 29, 2026, no later price on its data exceeded $3.84. This follows from [2].
- a 26% year-to-date fall to $1.37 on March 13, 2026, implies a start-of-year price near $1.85 on CoinDesk’s figures. This follows from [7].
What's still open
- As of October 1, 2026, no source checked gives the depth of past bear-market lows (such as after January 2018) or how long recoveries took. Searched:
- As of October 1, 2026, CoinGecko’s page does not show the date of its $3.65 all-time high, and no source explains why CoinGecko and CoinMarketCap list different highs and lows.
- As of October 1, 2026, the public sources do not say whether the 4.74 billion XRP in Ripple’s operational wallets is counted in either provider’s circulating supply.
- As of October 1, 2026, the 31.98 billion XRP in escrow is of a similar order to the roughly 37.1 billion gap between total and circulating supply on CoinMarketCap, but no source says whether the escrow or the 4.74 billion in operational wallets is excluded from either provider’s circulating figure. Searched:
- As of October 1, 2026, the sources checked do not establish this: The saved CoinGecko record does not show the date of its $3.65 high, and no source explains why the two providers list different highs and lows. Searched:
In plain English
On September 29, 2026, one XRP cost about $1.49 on the big price-tracking websites. Multiply that price by the roughly 63 billion XRP in circulation and you get a total value of about $94 billion, which made it the fifth-largest crypto asset on those sites. If you count all 100 billion XRP, including the coins Ripple still holds locked up, the figure is about $149 billion. The price was well below its peak: one site puts the peak at $3.84 in January 2018 and another at $3.65.
