Short answer
The flow data does not show the spot ETFs lifting XRP’s price. SoSoValue data reported by U.Today put cumulative net inflows at about $1.79 billion by September 25, 2026, yet 24/7 Wall St. reported XRP at $1.55 that day, down about 16% for 2026. Bitwise’s filing shows XRP falling from $1.82 to $1.04 over the first half of 2026.

How much money has gone into the US spot XRP ETFs?
SoSoValue, a data service, compiles daily creations and redemptions for the funds, and news outlets relay its figures [4]. Chain & Ticker notes that the fund XRPR is a 1940-Act fund and sits outside SoSoValue’s spot-ETF totals [4].
On those figures, cumulative net inflows stood at $1.27 billion as of The Crypto Basic’s April 2026 report [5]. crypto.news reported $1.57 billion as of August 24, 2026 [6]. Chain & Ticker reported $1,710,373,048 on September 18, 2026 [4]. U.Today, citing SoSoValue, reported about $1.79 billion of cumulative net inflows and about $1.77 billion of total net assets on September 25, 2026 [1]. Pluang, carrying a Blockonomi report, gave the same $1.79 billion total after $22.65 million of net inflows on September 25, 2026, led by $18.39 million into the Bitwise fund [12]. After the September 18, 2026 close, Chain & Ticker reported, citing the holdings tracker xrp-insights.com and CoinGecko, that the funds held roughly 1.8% of the 62.9 billion XRP in circulation [4].
Cumulative inflow counts dollars in against dollars out since launch. Net assets are what the XRP is worth on the day, so they fall when XRP falls even if no money leaves, as Chain & Ticker explains [4].
A second series gives larger numbers. Blockworks’ State of XRP report for Q2 2026, as relayed by cryptonews.net, put XRP ETP net inflows at $253.6 million in Q2, a 45.1% increase from $174.8 million in Q1, and cumulative inflows since the first US spot launch above $1.90 billion [7]. Blockworks counts ETPs; the SoSoValue figures cover US spot ETFs.
How much XRP that money bought is covered in how much XRP the US spot ETFs hold.
Did XRP’s price rise while the money came in?
Mostly it fell. Bitwise XRP ETF’s 10-Q records the XRP price at $1.82 on December 31, 2025, $1.34 on March 31, 2026 and $1.04 on June 30, 2026 [8]. In Q2 2026 alone, the same filing records creations of about 105.3 million XRP worth $137.9 million against redemptions of about 13.2 million XRP worth $16.0 million, and Bitwise’s net assets rising from $261.9 million to $299.1 million [8]. Blockworks, as relayed by cryptonews.net, reported that quarter-end XRP ETP assets under management fell 17.1% to $1.99 billion in Q2 2026, reflecting XRP’s 19.9% price decline in the quarter, in the same quarter it counted $253.6 million of net inflows into those products [7].
By late September the pattern held. 24/7 Wall St. reported XRP at $1.55 on September 25, 2026, down about 16% for the year and 43% over the past year [2]. U.Today reported a combined $22.65 million net inflow on September 25, led by Bitwise at about $18.39 million and Franklin at about $4.26 million, on a day XRP traded around $1.54, down about 4.6% over 24 hours [1]. U.Today concluded that positive fund flows are not currently sufficient to prevent broader market pressure from affecting the asset, and that flows do not necessarily translate into same-day price moves [1].
Single days show the same gap. 24/7 Wall St. reported that September 21, 2026 was a zero-flow day on which XRP had one of its strongest sessions of the month, while XRP fell nearly 6% across September 22 and 23, days with steady inflows [3].
For context, Chain & Ticker gives XRP’s all-time high as $3.65 on July 17, 2025 [4], before Bitwise’s XRP trust began operations on November 19, 2025, according to its 10-Q [8], and crypto.news gave a January 2026 cycle high of $2.43 [6].
Which months had net outflows, and did they line up with price moves?
The Crypto Basic reported $15.59 million of inflows in January 2026, $58.09 million in February, and a $31.16 million outflow in March, the first monthly loss [5]. It said monthly inflows had been consistent since November 2025, with March the only exception, as of that April 2026 report [5]. It also reported the largest single-day outflow, $92.92 million, by January 29 [5].
crypto.news reported July 2026 inflows of $27.29 million and said the first week of August saw net outflows [6]. Chain & Ticker recorded the first outflow day of September, -$5.15 million on September 17 [4]. It reported the week ending September 18, 2026 as the tenth consecutive week of net inflows, at $9.56 million [4].
The one outflow month does not stand out in the price record. Across Q1 2026, which held two inflow months and the March outflow, the 10-Q quarter-end prices show XRP falling from $1.82 to $1.34 [8]. The clearest single event came on September 15, 2026, when the cloture motion on H.R. 3633 failed 49-50 and XRP dropped from a $1.42 close to $1.28 [4]. ETF flows were $0 that day and +$3.50 million the next [4]. Chain & Ticker noted that the vote-day print was zero, not an outflow, even as XRP fell 9.6% close to close [4].
How large are ETF inflows next to daily XRP spot trading volume?
Small. 24/7 Wall St. reported that about $4.2 billion of XRP traded in the 24 hours to September 25, 2026, so the $18 million inflow on September 23 equalled 0.4% of that activity [2]. The same article counted about $80 million of inflows in September up to the 25th, including $38 million on September 22 and 23 after a prolonged period of little new investment [2]. U.Today put 24-hour volume at about $4.97 billion on September 25 [1]. 24/7 Wall St. also reported that the $75.6 million taken in across the four days ending September 25 equalled about 4% of the funds’ total pool [3].
SoSoValue nets new share creations against redemptions, so one net figure can hide larger gross buying and selling [3].
Who sold XRP into the ETF buying?
The filings show how the funds get XRP, not who sold it. 24/7 Wall St. describes the mechanism: when new money flows in, an authorized participant, a financial institution, trades cash or XRP for new shares, and the fund must hold enough XRP to back every share it issues [2]. Bitwise’s trust can create shares in-kind for XRP or for cash; in-kind, an authorized participant deposits XRP directly with the trust [8]. The 10-Q presents a table of the changes in the trust’s XRP quantity and fair value for the six months ended June 30, 2026 [8]. Bitwise’s own site reported 413,140,980.47 XRP in the trust as of September 27, 2026 [9], against 286,838,445.9126 XRP at June 30 in the 10-Q [8].
24/7 Wall St. described sellers at higher prices using rebounds to offload holdings [2]. It also wrote that holders at a loss continue to sell whenever the price bounces back, so a selling holder may partially offset each ETF investment; that is the outlet’s view, not seller data [2]. It also noted that cumulative inflows of $1.79 billion exceed net assets of $1.77 billion, suggesting many fund holders may sell during rallies to recover their money [3].
Ripple’s escrow is another possible source of supply. Chain & Ticker reported, citing on-chain trackers, that the escrow released 1.0 billion XRP on July 1, August 1 and September 1 and re-locked 0.7 billion each time, a net 300 million XRP a month [4]. crypto.news noted on September 1, 2026 that an unlock makes XRP available to Ripple but does not prove a sale [11]. Whether fund buying tightens supply at all is the subject of whether ETF purchases make XRP scarcer.
How do XRP ETF flows and holdings compare with bitcoin, ether and Solana ETFs over the same periods?
The Crypto Basic reported in April 2026 that cumulative net inflows into XRP ETFs had risen to $1.27 billion, a three-month high last seen at the start of the year. U.Today, citing SoSoValue on September 25, 2026, reported approximately $134 million in net inflows for bitcoin spot ETFs and approximately $86.95 million for ethereum spot ETFs, while US spot XRP ETFs recorded a combined net inflow of approximately $22.65 million that day. 25. crypto.news reported that bitcoin spot ETFs crossed $1 billion in cumulative inflows within their first week of trading in January 2024, and that Bitwise’s Solana Staking ETF (BSOL) crossed $1 billion in cumulative inflows in less than ten months. crypto.news put cumulative XRP ETF inflows at roughly 2.6% of XRP’s fully diluted value, against closer to 5% for bitcoin [6]. crypto.news put the $1.57 billion of cumulative XRP ETF inflows it reported as of August 24, 2026 at roughly 2.6% of XRP’s approximately $60 billion fully diluted market cap, against closer to 5% for bitcoin [6].
On price, Chain & Ticker reported Solana up 26.4% over 30 days at 00:05 UTC on September 22, 2026, against XRP’s 5.0% [4]. How bitcoin’s price behaved after its own launch is covered in whether XRP is being institutionalized faster than bitcoin was.
What is the case that the ETFs did support the price?
The strongest evidence comes from August 2026. crypto.news reported that the week ending August 22 brought $39.78 million, the strongest week in three months [6], and Chain & Ticker recorded XRP at $1.00 on August 18 and $1.52 on August 24 [4]. CoinDesk reported that XRP rose from about $0.99 to $1.38 between August 17 and 31, 2026 while CME’s share of XRP futures rose to about 17% [10]. crypto.news read the inflows during the drawdown as conviction buying rather than momentum chasing [6]. 24/7 Wall St. wrote on September 25 that inflows had helped keep XRP above its September 16 low of about $1.25 [2]. Blockonomi, in a report carried by Pluang on September 26, 2026, said XRP gained about 10% the previous week, trading between $1.54 and $1.58, and said the gain followed the Senate’s failure to pass the CLARITY Act and new non-binding SEC guidance on token buybacks, staking and protocol upgrades; the report’s headline also names $22.65 million of ETF inflows [12].
The same crypto.news report listed other events in that week: the US Treasury doubling its bond buyback operations on August 19, and Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse appearing at the Wyoming Blockchain Symposium with SEC Chairman Paul Atkins [6]. The wider view is on what drives XRP’s price and why XRP’s price isn’t rising despite adoption.
Will future inflows push the price up?
Whether future inflows lift the price is not known, and no public source measures the price effect of a given inflow. 24/7 Wall St. wrote on September 25, 2026 that the funds would need much greater weekly inflows to affect XRP’s performance, and that October inflows above September’s $80 million with XRP closing above $1.70, its August 22 high, would show the funds making progress [2]; that is the outlet’s view, not a measured result. What the funds do with their XRP after they buy it is covered in whether ETF-held XRP sits idle.
What we know
- SoSoValue data reported by U.Today put cumulative net inflows into US spot XRP ETFs at about $1.79 billion and total net assets at about $1.77 billion as of September 25, 2026.
- Bitwise XRP ETF’s 10-Q (quarter ended June 30, 2026) records the XRP price falling from $1.82 on December 31, 2025 to $1.34 on March 31, 2026 and $1.04 on June 30, 2026.
- The same filing records Q2 2026 creations of about 105.3 million XRP ($137.9 million) against redemptions of about 13.2 million XRP ($16.0 million).
- The Crypto Basic (April 2026) reported January 2026 inflows of $15.59 million, February $58.09 million and a March outflow of $31.16 million, the first monthly loss.
- 24/7 Wall St. (September 25, 2026) reported a $18 million inflow on September 23 equal to 0.4% of about $4.2 billion of XRP traded in 24 hours.
- crypto.news (August 2026) reported July 2026 inflows of $27.29 million and $56.86 million in August through August 24.
- Chain & Ticker reported XRP rose from $1.00 on August 18 to $1.52 on August 24, 2026, a week in which crypto.news said the week ending August 22 brought $39.78 million of inflows.
What we reason Analysis
- XRP fell about 22% in Q2 2026 while Bitwise’s creations exceeded redemptions by about 92 million XRP, a comparison calculated from the price and share-activity figures in Bitwise’s 10-Q.
- XRP fell about 26% in Q1 2026 across two inflow months and one outflow month, calculated from the 10-Q quarter-end prices and The Crypto Basic’s monthly totals.
- September inflows to September 25 (about $80 million, 24/7 Wall St.) equal about 1.9% of one day’s reported XRP trading (about $4.2 billion); cumulative inflows of $1.79 billion equal about 43% of one such day.
- Bitwise’s trust grew from 286.84 million XRP (June 30, 2026, 10-Q) to 413.14 million XRP (September 27, 2026, Bitwise site), about 126.3 million XRP or 44%.
- The Crypto Basic reported XRP ETF net inflows of $15.59 million for January 2026, $58.09 million for February and net outflows of $31.16 million for March, which sum to $42.52 million for the first quarter. The two series do not measure the same products, so the totals cannot be compared directly.
- In August 2026 inflows and price rose together, but crypto.news listed other events in the same week, so the timing does not isolate an ETF effect.
- Whether the funds slowed the falls cannot be read from these data, because no public source isolates ETF buying from other drivers such as the failed September 15, 2026 Senate CLARITY Act vote and the new non-binding SEC guidance reported by Blockonomi via Pluang. The comparison draws on Chain & Ticker’s vote-day record and the Pluang report.
- The funds bought while the price was weak rather than after it rose. That reading comes from the Q2 2026 figures (Blockworks’ $253.6 million of XRP ETP net inflows in a quarter when XRP fell 19.9%) and the September 2026 flow and price reports, and it says nothing about why each buyer bought.
What's still open
- As of September 30, 2026, reports put the August 2026 monthly total at about $127–159 million, a 2026 record, but the figures I could find covered only $56.86 million through August 24, and I could not find the BeInCrypto and CryptoRank reports as of that date.
- As of September 30, 2026, no monthly XRP closing prices have been published alongside each month’s flows in the sources reviewed.
- As of September 30, 2026, no filing or report names who sold XRP to the funds; neither the Bitwise 10-Q nor the flow reports say.
- As of September 30, 2026, whether future inflows lift the price is not known; no public source measures the price effect of a given inflow.
In plain English
Since late 2025, investors have put about $1.79 billion more into US funds that hold XRP than they have taken out. Over the same months, XRP’s price fell by more than it rose. On many days money went into the funds while the price dropped, and on one day the price rose while no money moved. The amount going into the funds is small next to the XRP that trades on exchanges every day, so other buyers and sellers set most of the price.
