Short answer
Five US spot XRP ETFs held a combined 906.78 million XRP on June 30, 2026, according to their own quarterly SEC filings. Bitcoin.com News reported 1.18 billion XRP across seven funds on September 28, 2026. Bitwise’s filings show its holding rose from 131.2 million to 286.8 million XRP during the first half of 2026.
The full answer
How much XRP does each US spot XRP ETF hold?
The most recent figures that come from the funds themselves are the quarterly reports each trust filed with the SEC for June 30, 2026. Each report lists the number of XRP the trust held on that date.
| Fund | XRP held, June 30, 2026 | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Bitwise XRP ETF | 286,838,445.9126 | [1] |
| Canary XRP ETF | 231,279,303 | [3] |
| Franklin XRP Trust | 225,368,820.7314 | [4] |
| 21Shares XRP ETF | 108,256,464.0739 | [5] |
| Grayscale XRP Trust ETF | 55,035,728.016985 | [6] |
Added together, the five filings give 906,778,762 XRP, about 906.78 million [1][3][4][5][6]. In its Form 10-Q for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, Bitwise valued the Trust’s holdings at $298,653,321 as of June 30, 2026, using an XRPUSD_NY price of $1.04 [1]. The 21Shares filing describes the trust as a passive vehicle whose sponsor does not actively manage the XRP it holds [5]. What that means for the coins’ use is covered on whether ETF-held XRP just sits idle.
Is the amount growing when counted in XRP rather than dollars?
Yes, for the two funds whose earlier balances appear in their filings. Bitwise’s trust began operations on November 19, 2025 [1]. It held 131,223,200 XRP on December 31, 2025, 194,904,778 XRP on March 31, 2026, and 286,838,446 XRP on June 30, 2026 [1][2]. Franklin’s trust went from 159,659,740 XRP on March 31, 2026 to 225,368,821 XRP on June 30, 2026 [4]. By our arithmetic (Analysis), that is growth of about 48.5% and 47.2% in consecutive quarters for Bitwise, and about 41.2% in Q2 for Franklin.
Units matter because the dollar value moves with the price. Bitwise’s filing says the XRP price it used fell from $1.82 on December 31, 2025 to $1.04 on June 30, 2026 [1]. Over those six months, Bitwise reported about 181,530,188 XRP added through share creations and about 25,610,148 XRP removed for redemptions [1]. In Q2 alone, creations added about 105.3 million XRP and redemptions removed about 13.2 million [1]. The trust may create and redeem shares in-kind for XRP or for cash, as described on how creations and redemptions work [1]. In August 2026, crypto.news said the gap between cumulative inflows of $1.57 billion and fund assets of $994 million reflected the fall in XRP’s price, not redemptions [8].
Why do the filing-based total and the third-party total differ, and which is reliable?
The two totals measure different dates and different sets of funds. The 906.78 million figure covers five trusts on June 30, 2026 [1][3][4][5][6]. Bitcoin.com News reported 1,179.62 million XRP across seven funds on September 28, 2026, with combined assets of about $1.82 billion [7]. Earlier, Ripple reported over 769 million XRP across five US spot ETFs in early March 2026, a company-reported figure [10]. crypto.news also reported approximately 995 million XRP held across seven funds, with $994 million in assets under management [8].
Sources also disagree on how many spot funds exist. crypto.news named seven: Bitwise, Canary, Franklin, Grayscale, REX Osprey XRPR, 21Shares TOXR and ProShares XRPL [8]. NerdWallet, updated September 28, 2026, said the SEC had approved six spot XRP ETFs and four XRP strategy ETFs [12]. A seven-fund total can therefore include products the five-trust sum leaves out.
For June 30, the filings are the stronger evidence, because each is the fund’s own report to the SEC. The September figures are more recent but secondary, and the project could not check their per-fund inputs.
What share of circulating XRP do ETFs hold, and how fast is that share rising per quarter?
Bitcoin.com News put the seven-fund holding at 1.18% of the fixed 100 billion XRP supply on September 28, 2026 [7]. 24/7 Wall St. Reported on September 25, 2026 that the funds held XRP worth roughly 1.8% of XRP’s market value [9]. The five-fund June total is about 0.91% of 100 billion XRP. That number and Bitcoin.com’s 1.18% cover different fund sets, so the difference is not a clean quarterly rate. The two figures do not give a quarterly series. For a comparison with bitcoin, crypto.news calculated that cumulative XRP ETF inflows equalled roughly 2.6% of XRP’s fully diluted market value in August 2026, against closer to 5% for bitcoin [8]; the wider comparison is on how XRP compares with bitcoin.
How much XRP do exchange-traded products outside the US hold?
I could not find any holdings figure for Canadian, European or other non-US XRP exchange-traded products as of September 30, 2026. The figures on this page are US funds only.
What is the strongest case against reading this as fast institutional accumulation?
Bitcoin.com News wrote on September 9, 2026 that disclosed institutional ownership of XRP ETFs remains thin and concentrated, and that the five major US spot products carried a $746.1 million paper loss at the end of June [11]. Rising unit counts do not show who bought the shares; what 13F filings show about ETF owners covers that.
Flows are also small against trading and uneven. 24/7 Wall St. calculated that the $18 million inflow on September 23, 2026 equalled 0.4% of about $4.2 billion of XRP traded in the prior 24 hours, and said holders selling into rebounds may partly offset ETF buying [9]. The first week of August 2026 saw net outflows, according to crypto.news [8], and 24/7 Wall St. reported total inflows stagnant at $1.71 billion as of September 19, 2026 [9]. XRP traded at $1.55 on September 25, 2026, down about 16% for the year, 24/7 Wall St. reported [9]. [9]. Whether ETF buying reduces the XRP available to trade is examined on whether ETF purchases make XRP scarcer, and adding ETF holdings to other institutional holdings is covered on how much XRP institutions hold and put to work.

What we reason Analysis
- Added together, the five June 30, 2026 filings give 906,778,762 XRP. This follows from the five funds’ 10-Q schedules of investment.
- Bitwise’s XRP count grew about 48.5% in Q1 2026, about 47.2% in Q2 2026 and about 118.6% over the first half. This follows from the 131.2 million, 194.9 million and 286.8 million balances in Bitwise’s 10-Qs.
- Franklin’s XRP count grew about 41.2% in Q2 2026. This follows from the 159.7 million and 225.4 million balances in Franklin’s 10-Q.
- Because the unit counts rose while the price used in Bitwise’s filing fell from $1.82 to $1.04, the growth in the first half of 2026 came from new creations, not from price. This follows from Bitwise’s 10-Q creation, redemption and price figures.
- 906.78 million XRP is about 0.91% of the 100 billion total supply. This cannot be read as a quarterly change against Bitcoin.com’s 1.18%, because the two figures cover five and seven funds. This follows from the five 10-Qs and Bitcoin.com News, September 28, 2026.
- The filing-based figure is the stronger evidence for the June 30 date because it comes from each fund’s own report to the SEC; the September third-party figures are later but secondary, and their per-fund inputs could not be checked in the project’s sources. This follows from comparing the source types.
What's still open
- On September 30, 2026, the fund’s website reported net assets of $621,884,070 and 415,161,124.27 XRP in trust as of that date, but as of October 1, 2026 I could not find a 10-Q filing for the quarter ending September 30, 2026, so no filing-based count after June 30 exists here.
- As of September 30, 2026, I could not find a Bitwise-reported figure of 413.1 million XRP on September 24, 2026, nor the fund-page figures for Franklin (September 4) and Canary (September 22), on the fund pages themselves.
- As of September 30, 2026, the saved Bitcoin.com sentence does not name its seven funds, so its fund list could not be compared with crypto.news’s list.
- As of September 30, 2026, I could not find any quarter-by-quarter share of circulating XRP held by ETFs.
- As of September 30, 2026, I could not find any holdings figures for exchange-traded products outside the US (Canada, Europe or elsewhere).
In plain English
An XRP ETF is a fund traded on a stock exchange that holds XRP for the people who buy its shares. The five US funds that reported to the SEC for the end of June 2026 held about 907 million XRP between them. One news site counting seven funds, Bitcoin.com News, reported that custodians hold 1,179.62 million XRP (about 1.18 billion), without giving an as-of date. The largest fund, Bitwise’s, more than doubled the number of XRP it held in the first half of 2026, even though XRP’s price fell over the same months.
