USDC
Plain definition. USDC is a stablecoin pegged to the U.S. dollar one-for-one, with each coin in circulation backed by $1 held in reserve.
Technical definition. CoinMarketCap’s USDC page defines it as a stablecoin pegged to the U.S. dollar on a 1:1 basis, issued by Circle Internet Financial LLC. Every unit in circulation is backed by $1 held in reserve in a mix of cash and short-term U.S. CoinMarketCap’s description of USDC says one of its aims is to give users the assurance that they will be able to withdraw 1 USDC and receive $1 in return without any issues. New coins are created in line with demand whenever someone buys one with dollars.
