Value capture

Plain definition. Value capture is how well a blockchain project turns the economic activity it generates into real benefits for its token and the people who hold it.

Technical definition. Gate’s crypto glossary defines value capture as a blockchain project’s ability to convert the economic value it generates into tangible benefits for its tokens or participants, such as cash flow, rewards, or deflationary mechanisms. A network can be heavily used while little of that use benefits the token, which is why value capture is asked separately from whether the technology works.
