Velocity (turnover)

Plain definition. Velocity, or turnover, is how fast an asset like XRP changes hands. A bridge asset can be traded heavily while being bought and sold again quickly.

Technical definition. CryptoSlate’s September 12, 2026 analysis separates gross turnover from holding time: a bridge asset can support substantial gross turnover while being bought and sold quickly. On the XRP Ledger, auto-bridging can connect two issued-token markets through XRP when that combined route offers a better exchange rate than the direct pair. CryptoSlate wrote that persistent demand becomes more plausible if market makers need to hold larger XRP balances for longer periods, or if XRP-linked routes consistently capture a growing share of activity.
