XRP futures and options
Plain definition. XRP futures are exchange contracts in which one contract represents 50,000 XRP. Options on them let the holder buy (a call) or sell (a put) one such futures contract.
Technical definition. In CME’s rules, one XRP Futures contract (Chapter 435) represents 50,000 XRP, and a Micro XRP Futures contract represents 2,500 XRP. CME’s filing states that the index underlying the XRP futures is the CME CF XRP-Dollar Reference Rate. The trading unit of an option is a call to buy, or a put to sell, one XRP Futures contract. These options are quoted in USD per XRP, with a minimum fluctuation equal to $25.00 per option contract. In CME’s September 2025 filing with the CFTC, options other than monthly options are judged in or out of the money against a Fixing Price based on the notionally-adjusted volume-weighted average price of XRP Futures and Micro XRP Futures on CME Globex during the last thirty minutes of trading on expiration day.
