Short answer
Evernorth says it holds XRP to grow XRP per share over time, not sit passively like an ETF, by joining institutional lending, liquidity provisioning and DeFi yield. A Ripple blog says it is preparing to use the XRP Ledger’s Lending Protocol (XLS-66). Neither source says how much XRP has been deployed.

What has Evernorth said it will do with its XRP?
Evernorth announced on October 20, 2025 that it expected to raise over $1 billion in gross proceeds, with net proceeds primarily funding open-market purchases of XRP [3]. In the same release, Evernorth said that, unlike a passive ETF, it seeks to grow XRP per share over time by participating in institutional lending, liquidity provisioning and DeFi yield opportunities [3]. The release said the expected proceeds included $200 million from SBI and additional investments from Ripple [3]. For how this differs from a fund that only holds XRP, see how Evernorth differs from an XRP ETF. The release sets out what Evernorth seeks to do; it gives no figure for how much XRP is deployed.
Later SEC-filed communications repeat the plan. One says Evernorth holds XRP and intends to deploy it into the XRP Ledger’s financial infrastructure by providing liquidity and participating in on-chain markets [7]. In an interview filed with the SEC, Evernorth’s Asheesh Birla said Evernorth is working with XRP developers to build lending products and that putting XRP to work in lending markets can create yield for Evernorth and liquidity on chain [6]. He also said Evernorth wants to help create more liquid markets [6].
Birla named a second route in another filed interview. The XRP options market needs XRP, he said, and Evernorth can generate a yield [5].
How would XRP lending earn Evernorth a yield?
In a blog filed with the SEC, Evernorth announced its intent to use the upcoming XRP Lending Protocol (XLS-66) as a core pillar of its digital asset strategy [1]. Ripple quoted that announcement on February 5, 2026, attributing it to Evernorth Chief Business Officer Sagar Shah, and wrote that Evernorth is preparing to use the protocol to generate yield on its XRP holdings [2]. Evernorth said in the blog that the native lending ecosystem could be what it called a multi-billion dollar annual yield opportunity for the XRP community; that figure is Evernorth’s own view, and no public calculation behind it has been found [1].
The chain Evernorth describes runs from lenders to borrowers. Institutional borrowers draw XRP loans for strategies such as market making or collateral management without liquidating their own positions [1]. For lenders such as Evernorth, the company says the protocol offers what it believes is an attractive way to grow its treasury [1]. Why a market maker would borrow XRP rather than buy it is covered in whether market makers need to own all the XRP liquidity they provide.
Ripple’s February 5, 2026 post describes XLS-66 as enabling fixed-term, uncollateralized loans, with underwriting and risk management kept off-chain [2]. Bitcoin.com reported in September 2026 that Evernorth targets fixed-rate loans without wrapping XRP or moving it to another blockchain [12]. Other ways to earn on XRP are compared in whether XRP can earn yield without being sold.
Is the lending protocol Evernorth is counting on live?
Crypto Daily reported that as of June 30, 2026, the SingleAssetVault and LendingProtocol amendments were open for validator voting on mainnet [10]. On September 25, 2026, the XRPL.org site still listed Lending as “Open for Voting” [11]. Bitcoin.com, reporting on Clearpool’s September 11, 2026 plan, wrote that both amendments remain subject to validator approval before they can operate on mainnet [12]. The current status is tracked in whether native lending is live on the XRP Ledger, and whether the plan needs this protocol at all is examined in whether XRP credit depends on native XRPL lending.
What is Doppler Finance, and what risks does its model carry?
On January 8, 2026, Evernorth and Doppler Finance announced a strategic relationship to explore potential collaboration, including the design and pilot of institutional liquidity and treasury use cases on the XRP Ledger [4]. The announcement says the two are exploring structured liquidity deployment and are evaluating onchain products and mechanisms for deploying XRP capital at scale [4]. The wording is exploratory: the release describes no signed deployment and no amount.
In the same release, Doppler says its stack combines “regulated custody, fully audited reserves, and strictly vetted yield strategies designed for safety and scale” [4]. Those are Doppler’s own claims. DefiLlama’s XRPL chain page classifies Doppler Finance as CeDeFi [13], which this page takes to mean a service combining a centralized operator with on-chain activity. This page reads DefiLlama’s CeDeFi label as meaning a depositor relies on Doppler’s custody and choice of strategies, not only on ledger code. Crypto Daily’s general warning on lending yields applies: a supplier of liquidity should assume principal risk [10]. The reason is that yields depend on a borrower’s promise to repay.
How much of its XRP has Evernorth deployed, and where will it report that?
One Evernorth communication filed with the SEC says the company is deploying capital into liquid on-chain markets and yield strategies [8]. In another, Birla said Evernorth puts XRP to work [9]. Neither gives an amount. In an SEC filing, Evernorth said it is going to deploy XRP into the XRP DeFi ecosystem in the future [5].
As of September 30, 2026, no public Evernorth filing or announcement states how much XRP it has deployed or with whom. Evernorth says it operates within a public-company framework that is audited [7]. Its periodic reports after listing are where deployment figures would be expected to appear; the listing itself is covered in what Evernorth’s Nasdaq listing changes.
What is the strongest case against the plan?
Evernorth’s own October 20, 2025 filing lists, among its risk factors, the ability to execute DeFi yield strategies and the volatility of the XRP price, and cautions readers not to put undue reliance on its forward-looking statements [3]. The XLS-66 design adds credit risk: loans are uncollateralized [2], and Crypto Daily notes that the protocol tracks loans but does not recover funds when a borrower defaults, so each application must plan for losses [10]. A treasury company that lends XRP can lose XRP. The question of whether such a company could end up selling its XRP under pressure is taken up in whether an XRP treasury company could be forced to sell.

As of September 30, 2026, no public source says what a pilot has actually produced or how much XRP, if any, has been placed with Doppler.
What we reason Analysis
- The lending pillar cannot run on the XRP Ledger itself until validators enable the Lending Protocol amendments. This follows from XRPL.org’s ‘Open for Voting’ status (September 25, 2026) and Bitcoin.com’s report that both amendments still need validator approval.
- Evernorth’s present-tense statements about deploying capital do not show a scale, so they do not establish how much XRP is working.
- Loans under XLS-66 are uncollateralized and underwritten off-chain, so Evernorth’s lending return would depend on borrower credit quality, not on collateral liquidation. This follows from Ripple’s February 5, 2026 description of XLS-66 and Crypto Daily’s note that the protocol does not recover funds on default.
What's still open
- As of September 30, 2026, no public Evernorth filing or announcement states how much of its XRP is deployed versus held in custody. Searched:
- As of September 30, 2026, no public source gives an activation date for the Lending Protocol amendments.
- As of September 30, 2026, I could not find any public statement of Evernorth’s total XRP holding or of its work with t54 on treasury operations.
In plain English
Evernorth is a company built to hold XRP. Instead of just keeping the XRP, it says it wants to lend it out and use it in trading markets to earn extra XRP. Its main plan relies on a lending feature for the XRP Ledger that validators had not switched on as of late September 2026. It has also agreed with a company called Doppler Finance to explore ways to deploy XRP. None of the sources checked says how much of its XRP is being used this way today.
