Short answer
Yes. Holders can convert XRP into FXRP, a 1:1 token on Flare, then lend it, add it to trading pools or deposit it in managed vaults. Flare reported about 145.2M FXRP minted and 130M in DeFi on September 24, 2026. Bitcoin.com reported MXRPY’s May 2026 target of 3% to 4% a year, not a paid rate.

How can an XRP holder earn yield without selling it?
The Sentora RLUSD vault on Morpho is a collateral market rather than a yield product: users supply FXRP as collateral to borrow RLUSD (Flare, September 24, 2026). None of the sources describes a product that pays yield on XRP left on the XRP Ledger. The yield products covered here start by converting XRP into FXRP. Flare reported on September 24, 2026 that FXRP is a 1:1 representation of XRP, minted after Flare’s data protocols verify the XRP payment, and that the XRP backing it stays on the XRP Ledger [1]. Flare describes the appeal as earning on XRP “while keeping full exposure” to it [1]. The mechanics of the token are on the page What is FXRP, and how much of it is actually being used?.
Flare lists these uses, as of September 24, 2026 [1]:
- Lending. FXRP is lent and borrowed, and Kinetic runs lending markets for FXRP, including an isolated pool.
- Trading pools. Flare lists liquidity for FXRP on SparkDEX, BlazeSwap and Enosys.
- Vaults. earnXRP is an XRP-denominated yield vault built on Upshift’s infrastructure and curated by Clearstar; one FXRP deposit is deployed across strategies and compounded back into XRP. Flare reported that Clearstar’s vault held over 32M FXRP in deposits.
- Staking. Firelight lets a holder deposit XRP, mint FXRP, stake it and hold stXRP.
- Yield trading. Yield-bearing positions are split into principal and yield, so a holder can lock a fixed return or trade the variable part.
Flare reported about 145.2M FXRP minted and 130M FXRP in DeFi on September 24, 2026 [1]. It also reported that by July 2026 nearly 24,000 smart accounts had been created and more than 40M XRP was earning through the Xaman and D’CENT wallets alone [1]. These are Flare’s own figures.
Flare also lists a borrowing route: since August 2026 FXRP has been accepted as collateral in Sentora’s RLUSD vault on Morpho, where a holder supplies FXRP and borrows RLUSD [1]. That raises cash without a sale but earns nothing on the XRP; it is covered on Can I borrow RLUSD against XRP without selling it?.
What is the Monarq XRP Yield Vault (MXRPY)?
Bitcoin.com News, citing a media statement, reported that the Monarq XRP Yield Vault lets users deposit FXRP into a professionally managed vehicle, overseen by Monarq Asset Management and built on Upshift’s infrastructure, with access via Upshift starting May 15 [2]. From May 15, holders could access it through Upshift with an initial deposit cap of 500,000 FXRP [2]. Depositors receive MXRPY receipt tokens for their deposits and accrued yield. Withdrawals are processed weekly on Fridays, with an optional fee for instant redemption [2].
The vault splits capital across three strategies, according to the same report [2]. One uses XRP as collateral through FalconX to support options strategies on venues such as Deribit and OTC structured-product desks. A second runs market-neutral basis and funding-rate trades using borrowed stablecoins. A third places capital in Flare XRPFi applications, including lending markets and liquidity strategies. Flare still listed Monarq “for managed, multi-strategy exposure” on September 24, 2026 [1].
Where does the yield come from, and who is paying it?
The yield is paid by other market participants. In lending markets it comes from borrowers. Crypto Daily, writing about XRP Ledger lending in July 2026, put it this way: yields come from someone else’s promise to repay [3]. In MXRPY the sources of return are options strategies run with FalconX on outside venues, basis and funding trades financed with borrowed stablecoins, and Flare lending and liquidity apps [2]. The people on the other side of those trades and loans are the payers. The companies behind MXRPY said depositors remain exposed to counterparty, smart-contract, oracle and infrastructure risks across on-chain and off-chain markets [2]. Each named party (FalconX, the trading venues, the smart contracts, the price oracles) is a point where the payment can fail.
What yields have been paid over recent windows, net of fees?
As of September 30, 2026, I could not find any realized, net-of-fee yield for any of these products. The only rate on record for MXRPY is its target of roughly 3% to 4% a year, reported by Bitcoin.com in May 2026, with returns distributed based on strategy performance and market conditions [2]. The companies said yields may vary with market conditions, execution and deployment timing [2]. Flare said on September 24, 2026 that its vaults are actively managed strategies and that returns move week over week, while Firelight’s staking rate stays close to fixed; Flare gave no number for either [1].
A higher figure has circulated for native XRP Ledger lending. Crypto Daily reported that a July 1 LendProtocol press release teased a 12% APR for XRP and RLUSD deposits, and called it a claim from the project, not a guarantee of returns or risk level [3]. As of late June 2026 the LendingProtocol amendment was open for validator voting and not live on mainnet, per the same article [3]. The current status is tracked on Is native lending live on the XRP Ledger yet?.
How does XRP yield compare with Treasury yield available through RLUSD or tokenized funds?
No Treasury yield figure for RLUSD reserves or tokenized Treasury funds is given here, so I make no rate comparison. Who keeps the interest on RLUSD’s reserves is covered on Who earns the interest on RLUSD’s reserves, and does any of it reach XRP holders?.
The difference in risk can still be stated. A deposit in FXRP stays tied to the XRP price, because Flare describes FXRP as a 1:1 representation of XRP [1]. Stock Titan’s summary of the 21Shares XRP ETF’s report for the six months to June 30, 2026 states that XRP’s price fell 42.91% over that period [4]. A target of 3% to 4% a year [2] is small next to a price move of that size.
Could ETF-held XRP be lent out like securities lending?
On December 17, 2025, SBI Ripple Asia announced a memorandum of understanding with Doppler Finance to explore XRP-based yield products on the XRP Ledger, with Doppler’s head of institutions saying the collaboration was about positioning XRP as a productive, yield-bearing asset; as of October 1, 2026, no finished product is known to have launched. The 21Shares XRP ETF’s report states that its custodians, Coinbase, BitGo and Anchorage, hold all of the trust’s XRP on the trust’s behalf [4]. The GXRP trust’s report for the quarter ended March 31, 2026 states that the trust only receives XRP through creation orders and does not itself transact on any digital asset market [5]. Neither passage describes lending. More on this is on Does XRP held by ETFs just sit idle?.
What is the strongest case against earning yield on XRP?
Crypto Daily’s July 2026 guidance on XRP Ledger lending is direct: anyone supplying liquidity should assume principal risk [3], and headline APRs can mask risk [3]. The MXRPY companies list counterparty, smart-contract, oracle and infrastructure risk [2]. According to Flare (Company-reported), FXRP is minted only after Flare’s data protocols verify the payment on XRPL [1]. Holders depend on that system as well as on XRP, and XRP’s price fell 42.91% in the six months to June 30, 2026 [4]. The full case is set out on What are the risks of earning yield on XRP through AMM pools or wrapped XRP?, and a dated record of earlier failures is on What happened to XRP held with crypto lenders that collapsed in 2022?.
Whether the same XRP can also be hedged or held elsewhere while it earns is the subject of Can the same XRP be held, hedged and put to work at once?.
What we know
- Flare reported on September 24, 2026 that FXRP is a 1:1 representation of XRP and that the XRP backing it stays on the XRP Ledger [1].
- Flare reported on September 24, 2026 that about 145.2M FXRP had been minted, with 130M FXRP in DeFi [1].

- Flare reported on September 24, 2026 that Clearstar’s vault held over 32M FXRP in deposits [1].
- Flare reports that it built lending and isolated markets on Kinetic and liquidity on SparkDEX, BlazeSwap and Enosys following the FAssets launch [1]. Flare also describes Firelight as the first staking layer for XRP (deposit XRP, mint FXRP, stake it and hold stXRP) and earnXRP as an on-chain XRP-denominated yield vault curated by Clearstar [1]. Flare also lists Spectra for yield trading, where yield-bearing positions are split into principal and yield so a holder can lock a fixed return or trade the variable part [1].
- Bitcoin.com News, citing a media statement from the companies, reported in May 2026 that MXRPY opened through Upshift from May 15 with an initial deposit cap of 500,000 FXRP and a target annual yield of roughly 3% to 4% [2].
- Crypto Daily reported on July 23, 2026 that, as of late June, the XRP Ledger’s SingleAssetVault and LendingProtocol amendments were open for validator voting and not yet live on mainnet [3].
- The 21Shares XRP ETF’s report for the six months to June 30, 2026, as summarized by Stock Titan, states that XRP’s price fell 42.91% over that period [4].
What we reason Analysis
- A holder who converts XRP to FXRP keeps XRP price exposure, so any yield is earned on top of XRP’s price moves, not instead of them. This follows from Flare’s 1:1 description of FXRP [1] and the 21Shares report of a 42.91% price fall in six months [4].
- The yield in these products is paid by other market participants: borrowers in lending markets, counterparties in options, basis and funding trades, and traders in liquidity pools. This follows from the MXRPY strategy description [2], Flare’s list of markets [1] and Crypto Daily’s point that lending yield depends on a borrower’s promise to repay [3].
- Borrowing RLUSD against FXRP in Sentora’s Morpho market is a way to raise cash without selling, not a way to earn yield on the XRP. This follows from Flare’s description of that market as supply FXRP, borrow RLUSD [1].
- The passages held from the 21Shares and GXRP quarterly reports describe custodians holding the funds’ XRP and the GXRP trust not transacting on markets itself; neither describes lending that XRP out. This follows from [4] and [5].
What's still open
- As of September 30, 2026, I could not find any realized yield, net of fees, for MXRPY, earnXRP, Kinetic, Firelight or Spectra.
- As of September 30, 2026, MXRPY’s management and performance fees were not found in the project’s sources; Bitcoin.com mentions only an optional fee for instant redemption.
- As of September 30, 2026, I could not find any product that lends out XRP held by a US spot XRP ETF.
- Whether the XRPL LendingProtocol amendment has activated since late June 2026 is not covered by the sources on this page.
- As of September 30, 2026, it is unclear whether Firelight requires users to deposit XRP and mint FXRP first, and the year of the media statement on the Monarq MXRPY vault’s roughly 3% to 4% yield target is given only as ‘starting May 15’.
In plain English
XRP does not pay interest by itself. To earn something on it without selling, holders in these products first turn it into FXRP, a token on another network that stands for XRP one for one, and then lend it, put it in a trading pool or hand it to a managed fund. The money earned comes from other people, such as borrowers and traders, and the managers only state a target, not a promise. The XRP price still moves, and in the first half of 2026 it fell by more than 40%, which is much larger than the yield on offer.
