Short answer
Flare said in its September 24, 2026 post marking one year of FXRP that about 145.2M FXRP had been minted, with 130M FXRP in DeFi. Evernorth reported over 473,276,430 XRP purchased and committed in a November 4, 2025 release, and said it intends to grow its XRP per share through institutional and DeFi yield strategies.

This page compares XRP held by named funds and a treasury company with XRP that sources report as already at work in lending, collateral and vaults. Where the page goes beyond what a source states, the text is labelled Analysis.
How much XRP sits in identifiable institutional structures?
Evernorth Holdings reported total XRP purchased and committed of over 473,276,430 XRP on November 4, 2025, in a release filed with the SEC [1]. Crowdfund Insider reported in September 2026 that Evernorth holds its XRP through itself and an affiliate, and that Ripple Labs is currently its sole stockholder [6].
Two spot ETFs give dated counts in their quarterly filings. Franklin XRP Trust reported that its custodian held 225,368,820.7314 XRP for the fund at June 30, 2026 [3]. Canary XRP ETF reported 231,279,303 XRP, with a fair value of $241,278,596, at June 30, 2026 [4]. Bitcoin.com reported that US spot XRP ETFs held approximately $1.48 billion in combined net assets on September 4, with disclosed holdings across every category totaling $183.47 million, or approximately 176.35 million XRP [5]. It also reported that US spot XRP ETFs held about $1.48 billion in combined net assets on September 4, 2026, a day when the funds recorded no net inflows or outflows [5].
These four named holders account for about 1.29 billion XRP. The figures run from November 2025 for Evernorth to September 2026 for Bitwise, and other US funds are left out, so the sum is a dated snapshot of four holders, not a market total. The wider count is on the page about how much XRP institutions hold and use.
Bitcoin.com reported that disclosed holdings of spot XRP ETF shares across every category totaled $183.47 million, representing approximately 176.35 million XRP-equivalent [5]. The article notes that these filings cover ETF shares rather than tokens held directly [5]. That XRP already sits inside the funds’ own counts, so adding it would count the same XRP twice. The page on adding ETF, treasury, DeFi and derivatives XRP together covers this in more detail.
How much XRP is already at work?
Flare’s September 24, 2026 figures of about 145.2 million FXRP minted and 130 million FXRP in DeFi [2] put about 89.5% of minted FXRP in DeFi. Flare describes FXRP as a 1:1 representation of XRP, with the backing XRP kept on the XRP Ledger in a Core Vault [2]. Flare says FXRP is lent and borrowed, posted as collateral, and used to back a stablecoin through Enosys CDP [2]. In Sentora’s RLUSD market on Morpho, Flare reported $7.9 million of RLUSD supplied against 10.6 million FXRP collateral as of September 24, 2026 [2].
Flare also reported that by July 2026 more than 40 million XRP was earning through the Xaman and D’CENT wallets [2]. That figure is not added to the FXRP in DeFi, because the wallet route leads into the same FXRP vaults and Flare does not state the overlap.
Evernorth’s reported 473.3 million XRP is about 3.6 times the 130 million FXRP that Flare reported in DeFi.
What do ETF filings and Evernorth’s filings permit holders to do with their XRP?
Franklin’s quarterly report says its XRP custodian, Coinbase Custody, is responsible for safekeeping the XRP the fund owns [3]. Canary’s quarterly report names Coinbase Custody and BitGo as custodians responsible for safekeeping all the trust’s XRP [4]. It also says the sponsor will transfer or sell XRP when needed to pay trust expenses or cash redemption proceeds to authorized participants [4]. Bitcoin.com notes that an ETF gives indirect exposure through shares without transferring ownership of the underlying XRP to each shareholder [5].
An ETF shareholder holds shares, not XRP. Any decision to put fund XRP to work would rest with the fund under its own terms. The two quarterly reports do not say whether the funds may lend or stake their XRP, so that is listed as an open question. The case that fund XRP is not simply idle is made on the page asking whether XRP held by ETFs just sits idle.
Evernorth’s November 4, 2025 release says that, unlike ETFs, Evernorth intends to grow its XRP per share through institutional and DeFi yield strategies, ecosystem participation and capital markets activities [1]. The same release classes expectations about DeFi yield strategies as forward-looking statements. It lists the ability to execute DeFi yield strategies among its risks [1]. Crowdfund Insider reported that after the merger, Evernorth’s strategy centres on accumulating XRP and putting it to work on the XRP Ledger [6]. Evernorth’s stated routes to yield are covered on the page about Evernorth’s plans for its XRP.
Could Evernorth’s XRP be put to work without new buyers?
Moving XRP a holder already owns into FXRP collateral or a vault changes its use, not its owner, so that step needs no new XRP buyer. Each deployment still needs a counterparty. In the Sentora market that counterparty is the RLUSD suppliers who lend against FXRP collateral [2]. Who pays the yield in each case is covered on the page about earning yield on XRP without selling it.
Custody is one route in. Flare says Hex Trust brought its direct-minting flow inside regulated custody [2]. Whether custodied XRP can reach DeFi without leaving the custodian is covered on a separate page.
The XRP Ledger route is not live yet. Flare says the most useful flows in XRPFi begin on Flare today, and that an XRPL-native path is the part that comes next [2]. Evernorth’s Q2 2026 report says the XRPL vault (XLS-65) and lending (XLS-66) amendments were in validator voting at June 30, 2026 and had not activated [7]. The status of those amendments is tracked on the page asking whether native lending is live on the XRP Ledger.
Who besides XRP holders is bringing capital in?
RLUSD suppliers are one group. Flare reported $7.9 million of RLUSD supplied in the Sentora market as of September 24, 2026 [2]. A note buyer is another. Crowdfund Insider reported that on September 11, 2026, Evernorth signed a note purchase agreement with NH Investment & Securities, acting as trustee for Kyobo AIM Corporate Finance General Private Investment Trust No. 3, for $30 million of 4.00% Convertible Senior Payment-in-Kind notes due 2031 [6]. The notes will be issued only if Evernorth’s merger with Armada Acquisition Corp. II closes, and their stated uses include buying XRP [6]. If issued, that money would fund new XRP purchases rather than redeploy XRP already held.
Smaller listed holders are covered on the page about public companies besides Evernorth that hold XRP. The wider list of banks and funds involved is on the page about financial institutions involved with XRP.
What evidence argues against a large shift into productive use?
Productive use can shrink. Flare’s own figures show FXRP in DeFi at 144 million in July 2026 and 130 million on September 24, 2026 [2].
Evernorth’s plan is conditional. Its release classes DeFi yield plans as forward-looking and lists the ability to execute them as a risk [1]. Crowdfund Insider reported that the Armada shareholder vote was set for September 30, 2026, and that management expects closing in the fourth quarter of 2026 [6].
Evernorth said in its Q2 2026 report, dated September 2, 2026, that the XRP Ledger Lending Protocol (XLS-66) amendment was in validator voting at quarter end and had not activated [7]. The Franklin and Canary quarterly filings describe custodians safekeeping fund XRP and a sponsor selling XRP to meet expenses and redemptions [3] [4].

What we reason Analysis
- This follows from [1], [3], [4] and [5]: Evernorth, Franklin, Canary and Bitwise together account for about 1.29 billion XRP, using figures dated from November 2025 to September 2026. Other US funds are left out and their holdings are not confirmed, so this is a dated snapshot, not a market total.
- Comparing [1] and [2], Evernorth’s reported 473.3 million XRP is about 3.6 times the 130 million FXRP Flare reported in DeFi.
- Bitcoin.com reported that the disclosed holdings of spot XRP ETF shares total approximately 176.35 million XRP-equivalent and cover ETF shares rather than tokens held directly [5].
- By Flare’s description [2], moving XRP a holder already owns into FXRP collateral or a vault changes its use, not its owner. It still needs a counterparty, such as the RLUSD suppliers in the Sentora market.
- The fund filings and Bitcoin.com [3][4][5] show that ETF shareholders hold shares, not the XRP, so any decision to deploy fund XRP would rest with the fund under its own terms.
- This follows from [2]: Flare’s figure for XRP earning through Xaman and D’CENT is not added to the FXRP in DeFi, because that route leads into the same FXRP vaults and the overlap is not stated.
- The $30 million Kyobo AIM note facility [6], if issued, would fund new XRP purchases, not redeploy XRP already held.
What's still open
- As of September 30, 2026, the Franklin and Canary quarterly reports for the quarter ended June 30, 2026 do not say whether US spot XRP funds may lend, stake or pledge their XRP, and no prospectus term on this is quoted on this page.
- Will Evernorth’s business combination close on October 7, 2026, so that XRPN becomes Evernorth Holdings’ Class A stock on October 8, as the company expects?
- As of September 30, 2026, no public filing or report states how much of Evernorth’s XRP it has deployed, or plans to deploy, in yield strategies; Evernorth’s November 4, 2025 release, the September 2026 Crowdfund Insider report and Evernorth’s September 2, 2026 Q2 report give no such figure.
- As of September 30, 2026, no public filing cited on this page confirms the XRP held by US spot funds other than Franklin, Canary and Bitwise.
In plain English
Some large holders keep XRP in funds and company treasuries. Crowdfund Insider reported in September 2026 that Evernorth signed a note purchase agreement on September 11 to issue $30 million principal amount of 4.00% Convertible Senior Payment-in-Kind (PIK) Notes due 2031, with purposes that include buying XRP; the notes will only be issued if its planned business combination with Armada Acquisition Corp. II closes, which management currently expects in the fourth quarter of 2026. II had not closed in the sources checked. Flare reported that about 130 million FXRP was in DeFi on September 24, 2026. Putting XRP that is already owned to work does not need new buyers, but it does need someone on the other side of each loan, and fund filings describe their XRP as held for safekeeping.
