Auto-bridging
Plain definition. Auto-bridging is an XRP Ledger exchange feature that can route a trade between two tokens through XRP whenever doing so is cheaper than trading them directly.
Technical definition. Any Offer in the XRP Ledger’s decentralized exchange that would exchange two tokens can use XRP as an intermediary currency in a synthetic order book, improving liquidity across all asset pairs when doing so is cheaper than trading directly. Offer execution can combine direct and auto-bridged offers to reach the best total exchange rate. It happens automatically on any OfferCreate transaction, while Payment transactions do not use it by default, though path-finding can find paths that have the same effect.
