Which parts of the XRP institutional stack are live today, and which are still waiting?
Also asked as: “Which XRP financial functions are already activated?” · “Which parts of XRP-linked infrastructure are operational today?” · “Which parts of the XRP financial stack are already in use versus waiting?”

Short answer
Live today on XRPL mainnet are Credentials, PermissionedDomains, PermissionedDEX and TokenEscrow (xrpldashboard, September 29, 2026), plus CME XRP futures and spot XRP ETFs. Still waiting: SingleAssetVault and LendingProtocol were short of the 29 validator votes needed on September 29, 2026, and the OCC had not given Ripple National Trust Bank final approval as of September 28, 2026.

“Live” on this page means a product or ledger feature that anyone eligible can use today, backed by a dated filing, exchange notice, release or ledger record. “Waiting” means the code or the approval exists but the thing is not switched on. The labels say nothing about scale; the last section covers that.

What has changed a label so far?
The permissioned exchange moved from waiting to live. Crypto Briefing reported on February 18, 2026 that the ledger “has activated XLS-81,” built on Permissioned Domains, which went live earlier that month.[15] Multi-Purpose Tokens went live on October 1, 2025, according to Cryptopolitan’s report citing Ripple developers.[16]
Lending has moved closer without changing label. Blockworks counted 9 validator votes for XLS-65 and 8 for XLS-66 in late July 2026, “compared with the 29 votes required.”[18] crypto.news reported 16 and 13 on September 17.[20] xrpldashboard showed 19 and 15 at 19:47 UTC on September 29.[14] The trackers differ, but taken together they show support roughly doubling in two months and still sitting well short of activation. Whether lending is on is tracked on the page asking whether native lending is live on the XRP Ledger.
What do “protocol standards designed but not universally deployed” refer to?
On this page the phrase means XRP Ledger standards whose code exists in released server software but which validators have not switched on. At 19:47 UTC on September 29, 2026 xrpldashboard listed ten amendments in voting but short of a majority. The list included SingleAssetVault, LendingProtocol, LendingProtocolV1_1, ConfidentialTransfer and DynamicMPT.[14] The newest lending change, LendingProtocolV1_1, shipped in xrpld 3.4.0 on September 16, 2026. It “extends Single Asset Vaults and the Lending Protocol with closed-ended vaults and cash-basis accounting.”[21] It had 1 vote of 35.[14]
Some standards are live but narrow in reach. XRPL.org says trades in a permissioned DEX can use auto-bridging only “as long as the necessary orders all exist in the same permissioned DEX.”[26] A feature can be enabled and still not reach every market. Whether each remaining gap is about inventing, switching on or funding is the subject of the page on what is actually holding XRP adoption back, and the likely order of the next steps is on the page about what has to happen, in order, for XRP credit to scale.
Does “live” mean much XRP is being used?
No. That gap is the main counterweight to the table above. Blockworks, in a report Ripple commissioned, put XRP Ledger payment volume at 41.07 billion XRP in the second quarter of 2026, “down 26.6% QoQ and 4.3% YoY,” though its summary calls the yearly change “nearly unchanged.”[18] On Ripple Prime, crypto.news concluded on July 8, 2026 that the part of its $3 trillion clearing that becomes XRP demand is “small enough that no serious estimate puts a meaningful number on it.”[25]
Tokenized assets show the same pattern. In a 19:29 UTC capture on September 29, 2026, RWA.xyz listed $498.71 million of distributed assets on the XRP Ledger against $4.10 billion of represented assets.[24] Blockworks describes distributed assets as those transferable “outside their issuing platforms and between wallets.”[18] The live pieces are in place, and the capital moving through them is still modest. How to measure that use is covered on the page about measuring how much XRP is actually used, and the holdings side on the page about how much XRP institutions hold and put to work. The same build-out is laid out quarter by quarter on the page about what happened in the XRP ecosystem in each quarter of 2026.
What we know
- Spot XRP ETF filings name their custodians: Coinbase Custody for Bitwise (Q1 2026 filing), Coinbase Custody and BitGo for Canary (Q2 2026 filing).
- CME launched XRP futures on May 19, 2025, according to Bitwise’s SEC filing. CME announced on October 14, 2025 that options on XRP futures were available, with the first trade on October 12.
- Ripple Prime has offered US institutions OTC spot trading in XRP since November 3, 2025, according to Ripple.
- Credentials, Permissioned Domains, Permissioned DEX and Token Escrow were live on the XRP Ledger’s main network as of September 29, 2026, according to xrpldashboard.
- At 19:47 UTC on September 29, 2026, the SingleAssetVault and LendingProtocol amendments had 19 and 15 of 35 validator votes, according to xrpldashboard; a majority needs 29.
- The OCC conditionally approved Ripple National Trust Bank on December 12, 2025; the bank cannot open until all preopening requirements are met.
- The OCC said in its December 12, 2025 approval that Ripple National Trust Bank received preliminary conditional approval only, and that the bank may not begin business until it meets all preopening requirements and the OCC grants final approval under 12 USC 27(a). No OCC release as of September 28, 2026 shows that final approval has been granted.
What we reason Analysis
- The access layer (custody, funds, futures, prime brokerage) is live, shown by dated SEC filings, CME releases and Ripple releases.
- The on-ledger credit layer is waiting on validators rather than on code, because XRPL.org lists lending as open for voting in released server software while the vote stayed below 29 of 35.
- Live does not mean large: Blockworks’ payment volume, down 4.3% year on year in the second quarter of 2026, and crypto.news on Ripple Prime both point to small XRP use inside live products.
What's still open
- Native lending had no activation date as of September 29, 2026: neither lending amendment had the 29 votes that start the 14-day activation countdown shown on xrpldashboard.
- Ripple’s cross-border payments page and the xrpldashboard roll call were checked on September 29, 2026, the Ripple Prime page on September 28, 2026, and the XRPL.org 3.4.0 release notes are dated September 16, 2026.
In plain English
For XRP, the basic services large investors use now exist: places to store it, regulated funds to buy it through and futures to hedge it. The newer pieces, such as lending built into the XRP Ledger itself, are written but switched off until enough of the ledger’s validators vote yes. Being switched on also says nothing about how much a feature gets used.
