How can FXRP be used as collateral in Sentora's RLUSD vault on Morpho?
Company-reported Published 2 min read
Short answer
A holder supplies FXRP, Flare’s 1:1 token for XRP, as collateral and borrows RLUSD against it while keeping XRP exposure. Flare reported that in August 2026 FXRP went live this way in Sentora’s RLUSD vault on Morpho, on Ethereum mainnet. Flare said the market held $7.9 million of RLUSD supplied against 10.6 million FXRP on September 24, 2026.

What went live in August?
FXRP went live as collateral in Sentora’s RLUSD vault on Morpho, on Ethereum mainnet. Flare reported this in its September 24, 2026 anniversary post [1]. Flare’s earlier post, dated August 3, 2026, said a new isolated FXRP/RLUSD market was live on Morpho Blue and that XRP holders could borrow RLUSD against FXRP without selling their XRP [2].

How does the collateral arrangement work?
Flare’s one-line description is “Supply FXRP, borrow RLUSD, keep the exposure” [1]. U.Today reported that the market is permissionless and that borrowers pick their own loan-to-value ratio, provided their positions stay below the liquidation threshold [3].
FXRP is the token that carries XRP into this market. Flare describes it as a 1:1 representation of XRP, minted only after Flare’s data protocols verify the payment on the XRP Ledger [1]. Flare also said the XRP backing it stays on the XRP Ledger [1].
What did Sentora check before accepting FXRP?
U.Today reported that Sentora assessed FXRP under its institutional risk framework before adding it as eligible collateral. The review covered liquidity, market behaviour, oracle design and liquidation mechanisms [3]. Flare’s August 3 post said the review looked at how the collateral behaves, whether the oracle is reliable, and whether liquidity is sufficient to handle liquidations and withdrawals. It added that FXRP met that standard and is now monitored like the vault’s other collateral [2]. These are descriptions from Flare and a trade publication, not an independent audit report.
How large is the market?
Flare said the market opened at a $4 million cap. As of September 24, 2026, it stood at $7.85 million, with $7.9 million of RLUSD supplied against 10.6 million FXRP collateral [1]. CryptoSlate reported on October 1, 2026 that the market had about 7.18 million RLUSD in outstanding loans against 10.76 million FXRP [4].
U.Today reported that the market launched with a conservative supply cap that could be raised as liquidity and adoption grow [3].
What are the risks and limits?
The market is isolated. Each market pairs one collateral with one loan asset, and U.Today reported that the structure is meant to contain risk within individual markets rather than across the protocol [3]. That limits contagion, but it does not protect a single borrower. A borrower whose position goes past the liquidation threshold can lose collateral.
Flare also said, in the same post, that “No layer here is finished” [1]. It described a next version that starts and ends on the XRP Ledger: a holder signs from an XRPL wallet, borrows RLUSD against XRP, and receives it back at an XRPL address or an exchange or bank deposit address [1]. Flare presents this as work still open, not a live feature.
How the size of this market compares with wider XRP credit activity is a separate question. See how stablecoin supply on the XRP Ledger is growing and who earns RLUSD reserve interest. What we know
- Flare reported on September 24, 2026 that in August FXRP went live as collateral in Sentora’s RLUSD vault on Morpho, on Ethereum mainnet.
- Flare said on September 24, 2026 that the market opened at a $4 million cap and stood at $7.85 million, with $7.9 million of RLUSD supplied against 10.6 million FXRP collateral.
- CryptoSlate reported on October 1, 2026 that the FXRP-backed Morpho market had about 7.18 million RLUSD in outstanding loans against 10.76 million FXRP.
- Flare said on August 3, 2026 that the isolated FXRP/RLUSD market was live on Morpho Blue and that XRP holders could borrow RLUSD against FXRP without selling their XRP.
What we reason Analysis
- The two figures from Flare (September 24) and CryptoSlate (October 1) are a week apart and from different sources, so they show a market that stayed in the same size range, not a measured trend. Flare’s own post says the market opened at a $4 million cap, so the cap rose over the period it describes.
- Posting FXRP and borrowing RLUSD leaves the holder with a debt that is measured against the price of XRP. Flare’s description of a liquidation threshold implies that a falling XRP price can force a position to close. Flare’s posts describe the borrower’s exposure to XRP but give no figures on how often liquidations have happened.
What's still open
- As of October 7, 2026, Flare has not said that the XRPL-native path, where a holder signs from an XRP Ledger wallet and borrows RLUSD against XRP directly, is live. Its September 24 post calls that the next version.
In plain English
XRP itself is not what gets pledged. A token called FXRP, which Flare says is a 1:1 stand-in for XRP, is put up as security, and the holder borrows a dollar-linked coin called RLUSD against it. The holder keeps exposure to XRP while holding the loan. The market is small and the lending vault curator checked the risks first, but a borrower whose collateral falls too far in value can have it sold.
