How deep is XRP/RLUSD liquidity on the XRPL DEX?

Short answer
CryptoSlate reported on September 12, 2026 that the XRP/RLUSD AMM pool held about $4.6 million across both reserve sides. Working from the 2.288 million RLUSD side CryptoSlate reported on September 12, a trade of about 23,000 RLUSD would get an average price roughly 1% worse before fees.
The full answer
XRP and RLUSD meet in two places on the ledger’s exchange: one automated market maker (AMM) pool, and the order book. Public trackers show the size of the pool only, and on September 29, 2026 it held about $4.8 million.[1]
This covers the AMM pool only.
How big is the XRP/RLUSD pool?
The XRP Ledger allows “up to one AMM” for any pair of assets, so there is a single XRP/RLUSD pool.[3] XPMarket’s AMM ranking, saved September 29, 2026 at 17:18 UTC with XRP at $1.48, showed:[1]
| Reading | |
|---|---|
| Liquidity | 3.2M XRP-equivalent ($4.8M) |
| 24-hour volume | $53.7K |
| Swaps in 24 hours | 234 |
| Liquidity providers | 1.4K |
| Fee | 0.2% |
It ranked first on the ledger that day, ahead of a $1.4 million FUZZY/XRP pool.[1] Seventeen days earlier, CryptoSlate put the same pool at about 1.724 million XRP and 2.288 million RLUSD, or about $4.6 million.[2]
How large a trade can the XRP/RLUSD pool absorb before slippage passes 1%?
About 23,000 RLUSD, going by the pool alone and its September 12 reserves. XRPL.org says each pool “functions like a constant product market maker.”[3] In such a pool, a trade equal to 1% of one side’s reserve gets an average price about 1% worse than the starting price, and moves the pool’s price about 2%. With about 2.29 million RLUSD on one side on September 12, 1% was about 23,000 RLUSD.[2] On the XRP side it was about 17,000 XRP. The pool fee comes on top. How the September 29 total splits between XRP and RLUSD is not published. The figure is my own arithmetic; no source publishes it.
XPMarket says its Depth column “measures liquidity within 2% of current price,” and it listed about $47,000 on the +2% side and $49,000 on the −2% side.[1] XPMarket does not say whether both assets are counted.
A real trade can do better than the pool alone. A payment can combine several paths, drawing on the order book and the AMM together.[8] Order-book offers for XRP/RLUSD are not summarised in any source found, so total depth at 1% is unknown as of September 29, 2026.
How has pool depth changed month by month in native units?
As of September 29, 2026, no monthly series in XRP and RLUSD units was found. The two dated readings, about $4.6 million on September 12 and $4.8 million on September 29, are close in dollar terms.[2][1] XPMarket’s ranking gives the September 29 figure in XRP-equivalent units only, so the two sides cannot be compared one by one.
For the wider market, Evernorth reports that XRP-paired AMM pools grew 26% over six quarters to mid-2026, while trading through those pools fell 74%.[6]
Has XRP reached $1 billion of liquidity on the ledger?
Not in AMM pools. Stablecoins on the XRP Ledger passed $1 billion: DefiLlama showed $1.213 billion on September 29, 2026.[5] DefiLlama’s XRPL DEX entry showed $41.59 million in total value locked across every AMM pool on the ledger (September 29, 2026), and that figure covers AMM pools only, leaving out order-book offers.[4] Taking CryptoSlate’s approximately $4.6 million pool figure (September 12, 2026), the pool is about 0.4% of the stablecoin total and about 11% of DefiLlama’s $41.59 million AMM TVL figure. The figures come from different trackers and dates, so this is only a rough comparison. CryptoSlate called this “a wide gap between dollars issued and XRP visibly committed to this venue.”[2]
In my view, pool value is a weak stand-in for usable liquidity. The reasons are set out in why TVL is a poor measure of XRP liquidity, and exchange order books are compared in how deep XRP liquidity is across markets.
What is the case that on-ledger XRP/RLUSD liquidity is deeper than the pool shows?
By Evernorth’s count, the order book carries most DEX trading: it reports that the order book was 81% of XRP Ledger DEX trading in Q2 2026.[6] If market makers keep large XRP/RLUSD offers there, depth can exceed the pool. Two limits apply. U.Today reported on April 10, 2026 that validator operator Vet described bots on this pair posting “offers that have no liquidity behind them.”[9] Trades inside a permissioned DEX cannot use AMM pools at all, so the $4.8 million pool does not serve that market.[7]
Who supplies the pool, and what do they risk?
XPMarket counted about 1,400 liquidity providers in the pool on September 29, 2026.[1] XRPL.org says trading fees go to the pool, and providers gain by redeeming their LP tokens for a share of it.[3] Their risks are covered in what liquidity providers earn and risk. Whether large holders might add XRP to pools like this is discussed in putting institutionally held XRP to work.
What we know
- September 29, 2026: XPMarket listed the XRP/RLUSD pool first among XRP Ledger AMM pools, at $4.8 million, with $53.7K of 24-hour volume and about 1.4K liquidity providers.
- September 12, 2026: CryptoSlate reported the same pair’s pool at about 1.724 million XRP and 2.288 million RLUSD, about $4.6 million.
- DefiLlama counted $41.59 million in all XRP Ledger AMM pools on September 29, 2026, and $1.213 billion of stablecoins on the ledger.
- XRPL.org: there can be at most one AMM per asset pair, and each pool works like a constant-product market maker.
What we reason Analysis
- A trade of about 1% of one side’s reserve, around 23,000 RLUSD, gets an average price about 1% worse than the starting price before fees (constant-product arithmetic on the September 12 reserves reported by CryptoSlate).
- The pool held about 0.4% as much value as the ledger’s stablecoins, and about 11.5% of all AMM value on the ledger (XPMarket’s $4.8 million against DefiLlama’s $1.213 billion and $41.59 million, all September 29, 2026).
What's still open
- What is the order-book depth for XRP/RLUSD within 1% of mid-price? No public series existed as of September 29, 2026.
- What is the monthly history of the pool’s reserves in XRP and RLUSD? XPMarket, DefiLlama and CryptoSlate published none as of September 29, 2026.
- How is the pool split among its providers? XPMarket’s pool page shows it, but its web address contains an XRP account address, so it is not linked here.
In plain English
On the XRP Ledger, people can swap XRP for Ripple’s digital dollar through a shared pot that holds both. At the end of September 2026 that pot held about $4.8 million. Based on what it held on September 12, a swap of around $23,000 would have cost about 1% in a worse price, before the 0.2% fee. That pot is small next to the more than $1 billion of digital dollars that now sit on the ledger.
