Short answer
No. Ripple’s Ripple Prime page, checked September 29, 2026, shows ‘$3T+’ of ‘Clearing annually across markets’, and Ripple said on April 1, 2026 that Ripple Treasury ‘facilitated $13 trillion in payments volume’ for customers in 2025. Neither is money invested in XRP, and no figure for how much of either passes through XRP was found as of September 29, 2026.
The full answer
Two large numbers circulate about Ripple’s newer businesses. Ripple Prime, its prime broker, is said to clear more than $3 trillion a year. Ripple Treasury, its corporate treasury software, is said to handle about $12.5 trillion of payments a year. Both come from the companies themselves. Their own labels, “Clearing annually” and “Payments Volume,” describe business passing through, not money held in XRP.
What does Ripple Prime’s $3 trillion measure?
Ripple’s product page gives “$3T+” with the label “Clearing annually across markets.”[1] The markets it lists are “digital assets, FX, precious metals, exchange-traded derivatives, OTC swaps, fixed income repo and more.”[1] When Ripple announced the Hidden Road purchase in April 2025, it described the business the same way, as clearing and financing “across foreign exchange (FX), digital assets, derivatives, swaps, and fixed income.”[2]
In our analysis, clearing means settling trades that clients have already made elsewhere. A $3 trillion clearing total adds up the value of those trades over a year, and the same dollar can be counted many times as positions open and close. It is not money held by Ripple Prime and it is not an amount invested in anything. KBRA, which rates Ripple Prime’s debt, says its “Revenues remain concentrated in spread-based financing activities,” which on our reading means the business earns mainly on the gap between what it pays to borrow and what it charges clients.[3] More on the business itself is on what Ripple Prime is.
What does Ripple Treasury’s $12.5 trillion measure?
Ripple Treasury’s homepage, checked September 29, 2026, shows “$12.5T Payments Volume” next to “13,000 Connected Banks.”[4] The same $12.5 trillion appeared in an August 2, 2023 GTreasury release, before what Ripple calls its “acquisition of GTreasury in 2025.”[6] The homepage number is therefore the 2023 one. The 2023 release said: “GTreasury facilitates transactions totaling $12.5T+ from 48M payments, annually, in 160 countries.”[5] The release does not say what the total counts or how it was measured. The Analysis section on this page sets out what it most likely covers.
Is the 2023 $12.5 trillion figure still current, and how was it measured?
It is no longer Ripple’s latest figure. On April 1, 2026, Ripple said that in 2025, “Ripple Treasury facilitated $13 trillion in payments volume for customers ranging from SMEs to Fortune 500 companies.”[6] The homepage still shows $12.5 trillion.[4]
The copy of the 2023 release now hosted on Ripple Treasury’s own site has been relabelled. It reads “Ripple Treasury facilitates transactions totaling $12.5T+ from 48M payments, annually, in 160 countries,” although the original release, issued before Ripple bought the company, named GTreasury.[5][7] Neither version explains how the total was measured, and no audit or outside check of either the $12.5 trillion or the $13 trillion was found as of September 29, 2026.
Why can’t these totals be added up as money flowing into XRP?
A flow total and an amount invested are different kinds of number. A treasury system that records $13 trillion of payments in a year does not hold $13 trillion, and a broker that clears $3 trillion of trades does not own $3 trillion of assets. Adding the two together, or setting either against XRP’s market value, mixes activity with holdings. The same mistake applied to XRP holdings is covered on why throughput can’t be added to invested capital. The reasoning in this section is our analysis of the labels the companies use.
Where do these businesses touch XRP today?
They connect to XRP as an option, which is the strongest case on the other side. Since November 3, 2025, Ripple says, “U.S.-based institutional clients are now able to execute OTC spot transactions across dozens of the most prominent digital assets including XRP and RLUSD” through Ripple Prime.[8] Since April 1, 2026, Ripple Treasury shows “Digital asset balances including XRP and Ripple USD (RLUSD)” in “the same account structure as cash,” with “multiple customers already in beta” before launch.[6] When the Hidden Road deal closed, Ripple wrote that “RLUSD is being used as collateral for a number of prime brokerage products,” while its infrastructure, “as well as the use of XRP, will complement the services offered within Ripple Prime.”[9] Ripple’s argument that these pieces work together is on how Ripple’s businesses fit together.
What is missing is a share. No Ripple figure for how much of Ripple Prime’s clearing or Ripple Treasury’s payments uses XRP was found in Ripple releases, KBRA’s rating release or news coverage as of September 29, 2026. A crypto.news analysis on July 8, 2026 concluded that “the fraction of it that translates into XRP demand today is small enough that no serious estimate puts a meaningful number on it.”[10] The same question for Ripple’s payments business is on what share of Ripple’s payment flow uses XRP, and what decides whether a payment goes through XRP at all is on how Ripple routes payments. How much XRP market depth even a small slice of these flows would need is worked through on the XRP liquidity needed for payments, and the broader question of large investors buying XRP is on is institutional capital flowing into XRP.
What we know
- Ripple’s Ripple Prime page, checked September 29, 2026, shows ‘$3T+’ of ‘Clearing annually across markets’, across digital assets, FX, precious metals, exchange-traded derivatives, OTC swaps and fixed income repo (Ripple).
- Checked September 29, 2026: Ripple Treasury’s homepage shows ‘$12.5T Payments Volume’ and ‘13,000 Connected Banks’ (Ripple).
- A GTreasury release of August 2, 2023 said it ‘facilitates transactions totaling $12.5T+ from 48M payments, annually, in 160 countries’; the copy now on Ripple Treasury’s site carries the same sentence under the Ripple Treasury name.
- April 1, 2026: Ripple said Ripple Treasury ‘facilitated $13 trillion in payments volume’ in 2025, and that its system now shows XRP and RLUSD balances alongside cash (Ripple).
- KBRA said on July 8, 2026 that Ripple Prime’s revenues are concentrated in spread-based financing (KBRA).
- November 3, 2025: Ripple said U.S.-based institutional clients of Ripple Prime can execute OTC spot transactions in XRP (Ripple).
- On October 24, 2025, Ripple said RLUSD was in use as collateral at Ripple Prime and that its infrastructure, ‘as well as the use of XRP’, will complement Ripple Prime’s services (Ripple).
What we reason Analysis
- A clearing total and a payments total both count the same dollars each time they move, so they measure activity passing through, not money held or invested. Those are the labels Ripple and GTreasury use themselves: ‘Clearing annually’ and ‘transactions totaling… annually’.
- The $3 trillion and the $12.5 or $13 trillion cannot be added to each other or to XRP’s market value, because they count different activities in different businesses. This follows from the sources above.
- What the $12.5 trillion counts is not stated in either version of the release. A treasury software total most likely counts payments that corporate customers send through their own banks while using the software to manage them. A company paying a supplier in dollars through its bank, with the software recording the payment, could add to the total without touching XRP. This follows from GTreasury’s August 2, 2023 wording, ‘facilitates transactions totaling $12.5T+ from 48M payments, annually, in 160 countries,’ and its ‘13,000 Connected Banks’ figure; neither version explains the method.
- The businesses now connect to XRP as a product option: Ripple Prime’s U.S.-based institutional clients can trade it over the counter, and Ripple Treasury can show XRP balances. The share of activity that uses XRP is the number that would matter, and no figure for it was found as of September 29, 2026. The basis is Ripple’s November 3, 2025 and April 1, 2026 releases.
What's still open
- How much of Ripple Prime’s clearing or Ripple Treasury’s payments involves XRP. Not found in Ripple releases, KBRA’s rating release or news coverage as of September 29, 2026.
- The method behind the $12.5 trillion and $13 trillion figures, and whether anyone outside the company has checked them: no method note or audit found as of September 29, 2026.
- Whether any Ripple Treasury customer holds XRP in the new accounts: no customer named or figure given in the April 1, 2026 release or later coverage opened on September 29, 2026.
In plain English
Two very large numbers get repeated about Ripple: over $3 trillion a year for its broker, Ripple Prime, and about $12.5 to $13 trillion a year for its treasury software, Ripple Treasury. Both count how much business flows through those companies in a year, the way a toll road might count every car that passes. Neither is money sitting in XRP or money buying XRP, and Ripple Prime’s list of markets includes ordinary currencies, precious metals and derivatives. No Ripple figure for how much of either flow uses XRP was found as of September 29, 2026.
