What did Ripple announce?
Ripple published a post titled “Meet Ripple Mint” on its website on July 23, 2026, introducing Ripple Mint [1]. Ripple described it as a unified way for institutions to access, mint, redeem and manage Ripple USD (RLUSD), and said it is available to existing RLUSD customers [1].
Ripple’s post describes it as a tool for RLUSD.
RLUSD is Ripple’s dollar stablecoin. For background, see what RLUSD is. A separate page covers what Ripple Mint says about RLUSD use.
Why did Ripple build it?
Ripple said that as stablecoins become embedded in trading, payments and treasury operations, access must move beyond manual workflows. It said manual approaches do not fully support institutions operating at scale, where automation, real-time visibility and system integration are critical [1]. Ripple said the tools are meant to reduce reliance on manual processes and make it easier for exchanges, market makers, fintechs and institutional customers to scale RLUSD activity [1].
What can customers do with it?
Ripple said Ripple Mint offers a user interface for operational control and oversight, and programmatic access for automation and system integration [1]. Ripple listed these functions:
- minting and redeeming RLUSD directly from the source;
- bridging RLUSD across chains;
- tracking funds across the full lifecycle of a transaction;
- querying transaction status and account balances programmatically;
- receiving webhook notifications for events such as fiat receipt, mint processing, onchain settlement and payout completion [1].
Ripple said redemption can be started through the interface or the API, with support for fiat settlement and for moving RLUSD across supported blockchains [1].
Where does the XRP Ledger fit in?
Ripple said RLUSD was first issued on the XRP Ledger and Ethereum, aiming to support cross-chain liquidity and institutional use cases [1]. It said RLUSD’s recent multichain expansion is anchored by the XRPL EVM Sidechain, alongside launches on Base, Optimism, Ink and Unichain [1]. Ripple said the sidechain combines compatibility with the EVM ecosystem and Ethereum tooling with a close connection to the XRPL and the wider XRP ecosystem [1].
So the service is for RLUSD across several chains, with the XRP Ledger one of them. It is not a service that runs only on the XRP Ledger.
Does Ripple Mint help XRP?
Ripple said RLUSD can join the flexibility and composability that drove stablecoin adoption in DeFi and multichain finance while still accruing value and activity back to XRPL infrastructure [1]. It also said that as RLUSD becomes available across these environments, XRP will increasingly serve as a complementary asset for liquidity, settlement, swaps, collateral and payments across supported chains [1].
These are Ripple’s own expectations, and the post gives no usage figures to test them. The critique is that a stablecoin tool can grow without any matching rise in XRP use. How much XRP exists and who controls its release is covered in how many XRP exist. The wider business picture is in what Ripple does today, and licensing is in Ripple’s licences and registrations.
In the Aave governance forum discussion on adding RLUSD to the core instance, a poster said the token is in its launching phase and that the community will be updated with further parameters and recommendations as more information becomes available; the same thread describes RLUSD as issued by Standard Custody & Trust Company, LLC, a Ripple subsidiary operating under a limited-purpose trust charter from the NYDFS since May 2021.
Ripple said RLUSD is issued by Standard Custody & Trust Company, LLC, a New York Department of Financial Services chartered trust company, which it said provides the oversight and transparency institutions require [1].
As of the July 23, 2026 post, Ripple gave no fees, minimums or eligibility criteria beyond being an existing RLUSD customer, and no mint or redemption volumes [1]. As of October 7, 2026, no public figure for Ripple Mint use has been given.
What we know
- Ripple published a post titled “Meet Ripple Mint” on its website on July 23, 2026, introducing Ripple Mint.
- Ripple said in that post that Ripple Mint is a unified way for institutions to access, mint, redeem and manage RLUSD, and that it is available to existing RLUSD customers.
- Ripple said Ripple Mint offers both user-interface access and programmatic access, with minting, redemption, cross-chain bridging, fund tracking, balance and status queries, and webhook notifications.
- Ripple said RLUSD’s multichain expansion is anchored by the XRPL EVM Sidechain, alongside launches on Base, Optimism, Ink and Unichain.
- As of July 23, 2026, Ripple’s post gave no fees, minimums, eligibility rules beyond being an existing RLUSD customer, or mint and redemption volumes.
What we reason Analysis
- Ripple Mint is a stablecoin operations tool. Ripple’s post presents it as a way to handle RLUSD, and it ties XRP to the picture only through Ripple’s statement that XRP will serve as a complementary asset across supported chains. No figure in Ripple’s post shows whether that raises XRP demand.
What's still open
- As of October 7, 2026, Ripple has not published fees, minimums or volumes for Ripple Mint in its July 23, 2026 post.
- As of October 7, 2026, Ripple has not said in that post how many customers use Ripple Mint.
In plain English
Ripple makes a dollar-linked digital coin called RLUSD. On July 23, 2026 it announced Ripple Mint, a tool that lets institutions create and cash out that coin in one place. Customers can use a screen or connect their own systems. Ripple said it is open to existing RLUSD customers. Ripple also said the coin is spreading to several blockchains.
