The full answer
What does Ripple Treasury do?
Ripple Treasury is treasury management software for companies. Ripple announced its $1 billion acquisition of GTreasury on October 16, 2025, and said then that the deal was expected to close in the coming months, subject to regulatory approvals [1]. Ripple called it its third major acquisition of 2025, after the prime broker Hidden Road and the stablecoin platform Rail [1]. The announcement said the combination would help customers move, manage and optimize liquidity in real time. It also pointed to access to the repo market through Hidden Road and to support for stablecoins and tokenized deposits [1].
Ripple has said that GTreasury manages trillions of dollars of volume for its Fortune 500 customers (Ripple, company-reported).
Ripple announced the global general-availability launch of Ripple Treasury’s digital-asset features on April 1, 2026. The release said the launch builds on more than 40 years of enterprise treasury management, following Ripple’s acquisition of GTreasury in 2025 [2]. According to Ripple, treasury teams can view, hold, receive and manage fiat and digital liquidity held with their bank and custody providers in a single system, and XRP and RLUSD balances appear in the same account structure as cash [2]. Ripple said multiple customers were already in beta before that launch [2].
Ripple named Digital Asset Accounts and Unified Treasury as the first two capabilities in its digital-asset framework. It said the framework “will soon expand” to Ripple products for cross-border and intercompany settlement and 24/7 yield on idle cash through overnight repo [2]. The page on Ripple Treasury’s digital-asset features covers them in detail.
Ripple gave its own reason for the purchase on November 5, 2025. It said institutions turning to stablecoins such as RLUSD for treasury payments and collateral was “a key reason why Ripple acquired GTreasury in October” [3]. The same release said Ripple completed six acquisitions in just over two years, two of them valued at over $1 billion, and entered prime brokerage and treasury management [3]. The wider picture of what Ripple has bought and whether it helps XRP has its own page.
How big is Ripple Treasury by its own figures?
The Ripple Treasury homepage, as viewed on September 29, 2026, lists “13,000 Connected Banks” and “$12.5T Payments Volume” [4]. Ripple said GTreasury manages trillions of dollars of volume for its Fortune 500 customers (company-reported) [3]. Ripple’s November 5, 2025 release said GTreasury “manages trillions of dollars of volume for its Fortune 500 customers” [3].
Every size figure here comes from Ripple. As of September 30, 2026, no independent check of them has been published.
The homepage’s $12.5 trillion and the release’s $13 trillion do not match. The release ties its figure to 2025, while the homepage text gives no period, so the two may describe different periods. Why a trillion-dollar figure attached to Ripple is not money flowing into XRP is set out in what Ripple’s trillion-dollar figures mean.
How many corporate clients does Ripple Treasury have, and is that number growing?
The April 1, 2026 release describes customers “ranging from SMEs to Fortune 500 companies” and says “multiple customers” were in beta for the digital-asset features [2]. The November 5, 2025 release refers to GTreasury’s Fortune 500 customers without giving a number [3]. Without a count at any date, growth cannot be measured.
How does it compare in size with other treasury management systems?
No size figures for other treasury management systems could be found, so a like-for-like comparison is not possible as of September 30, 2026.
Inside Ripple, the other large figures measure different things. Ripple said on November 5, 2025 that total Ripple Payments volumes had surpassed $95 billion [3]. crypto.news reported on July 8, 2026 that Ripple Prime clears more than $3 trillion in trades annually for over 300 institutional clients [5].
Ripple Treasury’s $13 trillion for 2025 is a payments figure for companies using the software. Ripple Payments’ $95 billion is a running total, and Ripple Prime’s $3 trillion is trade clearing. The three cannot be added or ranked as one measure of Ripple’s size. Ripple Prime is covered on its own page.
Does that payments volume run through XRP?
The strongest critique comes from crypto.news. In a July 25, 2026 audit of Ripple’s acquisitions, it put GTreasury at about $1 billion and wrote that “Corporate treasury runs on fiat” [6]. It concluded that the acquired businesses run primarily on fiat, traditional assets and RLUSD, and that Ripple “has built a path to institutional success that does not require XRP demand” [6]. The same audit said the money behind the acquisitions was built in substantial part on years of programmatic XRP sales [6]. It also set out a more generous reading, in which the acquired businesses create channels where XRP use could scale if demand ever materializes, and said the audit cannot resolve which reading wins [6].
What changed on April 1, 2026 is that XRP and RLUSD balances can sit alongside cash inside the software [2]; that is a place to hold and view XRP, not evidence of XRP payment volume. The conditions under which a company might actually use XRP through this software are worked through in how a corporate treasurer could end up using XRP.

What we reason Analysis
- The $12.5 trillion on the homepage and the $13 trillion in the April 2026 release are both Ripple’s own figures and do not match. The release ties $13 trillion to 2025, and the homepage text gives no period for $12.5 trillion, so the two may cover different periods. This follows from the homepage capture of September 29, 2026 and Ripple’s April 1, 2026 release.
- None of Ripple’s published sources says the $12.5 trillion or $13 trillion moved in XRP. With crypto.news describing corporate treasury as running on fiat, these figures are best read as fiat payments handled through treasury software, not XRP volume. This follows from Ripple’s April 1, 2026 release, the homepage capture and crypto.news of July 25, 2026.
- Ripple Treasury’s payments volume, Ripple Payments’ cumulative total above $95 billion and Ripple Prime’s annual trade clearing above $3 trillion measure different things, so they cannot be added or ranked as one scale. This follows from Ripple’s November 5, 2025 release and crypto.news of July 8, 2026.
What's still open
- As of September 30, 2026, I could not find any Ripple Treasury client count, or any count over time, in the April 1, 2026 and November 5, 2025 Ripple releases or on the Ripple Treasury homepage.
- As of September 30, 2026, no size figures for other treasury management systems are public in the sources I read, so no like-for-like comparison is possible.
- As of September 30, 2026, I could not find any statement of the period and method behind ‘$12.5T Payments Volume’ in Ripple’s homepage text, nor any Ripple source explaining how ‘payments volume’ is counted.
- Ripple announced the $1 billion GTreasury acquisition on October 16, 2025, and the project’s record describes it as closed by December 4, 2025. As of September 30, 2026, I could not find how the $1 billion was paid — whether in cash, stock, or XRP.
- As of September 30, 2026, the settlement and overnight-repo features Ripple said on April 1, 2026 would ‘soon’ be added were not confirmed as live in the project’s sources.
In plain English
Ripple Treasury is software that companies, from small firms to Fortune 500 companies, use to see and manage their cash across many banks. Ripple got it by buying a company called GTreasury, a deal Ripple announced in October 2025 for $1 billion. Ripple does not say that money moved in XRP, and a July 2026 review by crypto.news said corporate treasury runs on ordinary government currency. Since April 2026, companies using the software can also see XRP and Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin next to their cash.
